About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

We are looking for a Team Leader Engineering to join the Regional Assets team. Reporting to the Manager Regional Assets, this role will lead a team of 5 skilled engineering professionals who are responsible for the civil design work involving our rivers and drainage assets, including hydraulic modelling and assessment of environmental functions. The role will require you to assist in the assessment of design and calculations from consenting authorities and support the operational team to manage Council’s flood assets appropriately. You will be responsible for the management of resources, budgets and timelines while enhancing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Growing and developing the team to support stakeholder demands and deliver innovative solutions are all part of this exciting leadership opportunity.

 

The role will require you to:

  • Set the strategic direction for the team to align with Councils Policy, relevant legislative frameworks, and the needs of our community.
  • Oversee short, medium- and long-term management of district wide schemes for the Hawke’s Bay region.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to other aspects of Council.
  • Ensure that all projects undertaken by the team are completed to meet requirements within set timeframes.

 

About you | E pā ana ki a koe:

To be successful in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in engineering, have a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, experience in developing work plans to achieve targets, and proven leadership experience.

 

Ideally you will also have:

  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to foster and mentor a team of engineers
  • At least 10+ years relevant industry experience
  • Proven project management experience
  • Foster a culture that promotes sharing knowledge, supporting ideas, and encouraging others to develop their skills and experience.

 

What we offer | Nga huanga mōu

The salary range for this role is between $111,330 to $123,700 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Other benefits of working for our team include limited income protection and life insurance and other well-being initiatives.
