About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is looking for a talented and motivated GIS Analyst to join our ICT team. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape smarter, more sustainable decisions by delivering innovative spatial solutions and maintaining the integrity of our geospatial systems.

You’ll be a go-to expert for GIS support across the organisation—ensuring our spatial data is accurate, accessible, and reliable. From leading GIS projects to supporting day-to-day operations, your work will empower teams across HBRC to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Working with the Esri suite of products, you’ll provide expert consultancy, develop intuitive mapping tools, and champion continuous improvement in how we use geospatial technology. To excel in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Expertise in Esri software, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analysing spatial data, refining datasets, and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Database administration proficiency, with knowledge of Python, JSON, SQL, and geospatial data models.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring GIS users receive clear guidance, training, and support.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing data accuracy and integrity.
  • A customer-focused approach, delivering timely, professional GIS application support across the business.
  • A collaborative mindset, thriving in a team environment and mentoring others to enhance GIS capabilities.

The salary range for this role is between $79,645 to $96,417 (gross per annum) and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

HBRC is responsible for Civil Defence emergencies and as such, all staff may be called upon to support the response.
