About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

The Hawkes Bay Regional Council (HBRC) Works Group has an exciting opportunity for a Catchment Worker to join our team. We are looking for an experienced all-rounder who can focus on civil construction. This is a fulltime, permanent position and will be based at our Guppy Road, Taradale depot.

 

This position involves working on a broad range of construction and maintenance projects, primarily within our rivers, drainage systems, and Regional Parks. The role suits someone who enjoys working in the outdoors, has a commitment to safe work practices, and wants to work in a positive team environment.

The role requires continuous hazard management during day-to-day operations, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and promoting a positive health and safety culture.

 

About you | E pā ana ki a koe:

To be successful in this role you will be a motivated and self-directed person with a clean current Class 1 drivers license.  You will be a multi-skilled person who is competent in general carpentry, fencing, chainsaw and scrub-bar operation, and has experience in concrete placement, pipe laying, and general civil construction activities.

 

Alongside this, you will:

  • Have solid documentation skills and be competent in the use of smart phones/Ipads and associated apps
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of people including landowners and Council engineers 
  • Have a positive attitude toward health and safety in the workplace and be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment
  • Be fit and healthy
  • W, T and R endorsements would be an advantage

The hourly rate for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
