Hawke’s Bay Regional Council – Works Group (a business unit of Council) is seeking an experienced Catchment Worker/Tractor Spray Operator to join the business unit, based at Guppy Road, Taradale.

Applications close at 4 pm on Monday 11 September 2017. 

The position predominately is the operation of a tractor mounted spray rig used to carry out the Council’s annual weed control programme for flood protection purposes throughout the Heretaunga Plains and Wairoa area.

Spraying is weather dependent and has an off season in the winter. During these down times you would work as a catchment worker within our general operations which involves a variety of work requiring a reasonable level of physical fitness.

We are seeking a person with a broad range of practical skills who has extensive experience in the operation of agricultural machinery and is competent in the use of agrichemicals.

You must hold a clean current Class 1 licence, and a current Growsafe certification.

You must have good documentation skills and will need to show an ability to communicate well with a broad spectrum of people including land owners and Council engineers.  You shall be committed to safe work practices, have a positive attitude to health and safety, and be comfortable working independently, or in a team environment.

A pre-employment drug test is a requirement for this position.
