HBRC Chair in Integrated Catchments

The University and Hawke’s Bay Regional Council have partnered in a shared mission to create new knowledge and relevant tools, methods and processes to support the sustainable use and protection of natural resources across environmental, economic, social and cultural outcomes. This new position will be based in the Hawke’s Bay and will report initially to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research.

You will have specific expertise in at least two of the following areas:

  • Understanding the drivers for social change on an individual and collective level.
  • Integrated catchment management or adaptive management approaches of catchments.
  • Research for policy or practice and community change. Understanding of the role of science in transformation.
  • Bio-physical science in a relevant discipline – freshwater or terrestrial ecology, water quality, environmental science.
  • Humanities or social science relating to behaviour, social norms, influence and engaging with communities.

You will be PhD qualified in a relevant field and be highly recognised for your contribution to the academic field at a national and international level through your demonstrated track record of high quality publications, other research contributions and presentations. You will also have demonstrated ability to engage with and work collaboratively with a range of partners/stakeholders including tangata whenua and the primary sector.
