Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) is the regional authority for the Hawke's Bay region in New Zealand with key roles in environmental management and education; flood control, drainage, pollution, waste, land, water and coastal management. Supporting approximately 160,000 residents, Council's vision is to enable a healthy environment, a vibrant community and a prosperous economy. 

The opportunity:

We are currently seeking a GIS Analyst to join our GIS Team at Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. The team is dedicated to delivering excellent service, to both internal and external customers. The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for Geospatial technologies and can demonstrate proficiency in data management or geospatial development. The role involves taking ownership of our geospatial data, ensuring databases are maintained with an integrity that ensures the users have an up to date and efficiently working solution. You will also be assisting with mapping and spatial analysis across the organisation.

You will have the opportunity to learn, grow and directly contribute to Council and have a very visible and tangible impact on our service delivery.

The salary range for this position is $74,790 - $84,762 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

You will provide technical expertise, consultancy and support services to the business to enable the adoption or continuous improvements of technology. You will be the face of ICT and your customer first view will be evident in working with the business to provide first class support.

You will have;

  • Relevant science, geography, GIS tertiary level degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of GIS theory and applications, geo-spatial information and data processing.
  • Experience using ESRI Software, ARCGIS desktop, ArcPro, ArcGIS online, local maps, ArcGIS mobile solutions, ArcGIS enterprise and extensions.
  • Experience programming and scripting languages - Python, JSON and SQL.
  • The legal right to work in New Zealand.
