Senior GIS Analyst (Vacancy 19-255)

Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) is the regional authority for the Hawke's Bay region in New Zealand with key roles in environmental management and education; flood control, drainage, pollution, waste, land, water and coastal management. About the opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Senior GIS Analyst to join our GIS Team at Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. The team is dedicated to delivering excellent service, to both internal and external customers.You will be working with all parts of the Council, using your advanced GIS skills to create meaningful insight. Foremost, you will be the imagery and LiDAR expert in the GIS team, providing council with remote sensing advice and end user products, as well as promoting future possibilities for 3D geospatial information. You will be promoting the utilisation of an ever-growing collection of imagery and LiDAR data sets. You will be exposed to a variety of challenging projects and be given the opportunity to help take the GIS team to another level. As a senior in the team, you will work collaboratively across the organisation, providing key advice, and building positive relationships. A ‘can do’ attitude, attention to detail, sound organisational and excellent communication skills are favourable for success in this role. This is a permanent full time role for 40 hours per week.

The salary range for this position is $81,540 - $92,412 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you

Successful candidates will also have;

  • A relevant science, geography, GIS information technology tertiary degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years practical experience in the use of the ESRI product suite including ArcPro - including the ability to use Python, SQL or FME.
  • Extensive knowledge of GIS theory and applications, geospatial information and data processing.
  • Highly proficient with ESRI geo-processing/analysis tools with emphasis on 3D and remote sensing technologies.
  • Proven analytical and conceptual skills, with ability to undertake research, analyse information and develop solutions to problem.
  • The legal right to work in New Zealand.
