Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) is the regional authority for the Hawke's Bay region in New Zealand with key roles in environmental management and education; flood control, drainage, pollution, waste, land, water and coastal management. Supporting approximately 160,000 residents, Council's vision is to enable a healthy environment, a vibrant community and a prosperous economy.  

About the opportunity:

We are looking for a Risk and Assurance expert to design and lead the implementation and consistent application of various frameworks, policies and supporting structures throughout Regional Council. Reporting directly to the Group Manager Office of the Chief Executive and Chair you will undertake the audit, risk and assurance work programme and manage the quality portfolio. Your extensive knowledge of risk frameworks and experience in quality improvement including the ISO accreditation programme will enable you to deliver review findings and provide recommendations to the Finance, Audit and Risk subcommittee.This new and challenging role will require you to analyse complex information, provide quarterly reports and advice to the Executive Team and partner with the Project Management Office to embed quality and risk planning design into quarterly processes. This is a great opportunity to make progressive change across the business.

The salary range for this role is $88,830 - $100,674 depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

Ideally you will have proven experience with designing, developing and implementing risk management frameworks in a local government setting.

A tertiary degree in management or a diploma in risk management/quality assurance

  • At least 3 years experience in a senior management position.
  • Practical experience presenting to diverse audiences.
  • High level of Microsoft office and computer skills.
  • A clean full driver’s licence. 
  • Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
