Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) is the regional authority for the Hawke's Bay region in New Zealand with key roles in environmental management and education; flood control, drainage, pollution, waste, land, water and coastal management. Supporting approximately 160,000 residents, Council's vision is to enable a healthy environment, a vibrant community and a prosperous economy.  

About the opportunity:

An exciting opportunity for someone looking to live and work in sunny HB, based out of our Napier office. The role is a permanent position that will suit someone who has a passion for rural environments and takes job satisfaction from providing valued advice and support to rural landowners, identifying and implementing on site solutions to achieve resilient and sustainable land use.

About you:

We are looking for someone who is a team player and is happy to share their knowledge and learn from others. We are seeking an individual who is solution focussed, is confident in a rural environment and is technically minded, is familiar with farming and forest environments, and or has a tertiary qualification that aligns with the requirements of the role.

You will:

  • be confident to engage with rural landowners about relevant good management practices for the range of landuse(s) on their property
  • understand what it takes to build lasting relationships
  • know how to drive a computer and have good knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • consider yourself competent in the use of mapping software or be excited about the prospect of learning
  • have grown up with and or have become competent in the use of rural transport e.g. motorbike, LUV (side by side) or ATV (quad)
  • have a clean and full driver’s licence. 
  • have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

The salary range for this role is $69,210 - $75,362 depending on qualifications and experience.
