The Senior Governance Advisor is a newly created permanent role, based within the Strategy and Governance Group. The focus of this role is to deliver high-quality, accurate and effective Governance support to the council and committees. This role will also be accountable for the delivery of orientation and training programmes for elected councillors and tāngata whenua representatives.

To be successful in this key position, you will have experience in local government with a strong understanding of council committee processes and a comprehensive understanding of the Local Government Act and LGOIMA. You will have strong relationship building skills and be comfortable communicating with elected members, tāngata whenua representatives and senior staff.

You will be customer-focused, creative and innovative in your thinking, have sound judgement and be known for keeping a cool head under pressure.
