Towards the Development of Tailored Seasonal Forecasts for the Hawke’s Bay Region
This report, prepared for the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, describes a tailored statistical seasonal forecasting scheme developed for the Hawke’s Bay region. This forecasting scheme is based upon tercile probabilities i.e. what is the chance that rainfall/temperature over the next 3 months will be below normal, normal or above normal.
The dataset used in this study is an extension of the dataset used in a previous report - Relationship between Climate Modes and Hawke’s Bay Seasonal Rainfall and Temperature (Fedaeff & Fauchereau, 2015). This follow up study builds upon knowledge already established and explores different methodologies for producing seasonal forecasts tailored to the region.
4806 RM16-21 Hawke's Bay Marine Information_Review and Research Strategy_Final_eCoast Ltd
This report summarises available information on marine habitats within the Hawke's Bay Coastal Marine Area (CMA). A synopsis of this type was required by Hawke's Bay Regional Council (HBRC) due to a general lack of knowledge across the range of coastal habitats of which it has the task of managing under the Resource Management Act (1991). Additional objectives of the collation exercise were to: understand how various pressures resulting from land-based activities within the region may have changed these habitats; identify gaps in the information base; and, develop a strategy that could be applied to the CMA to bridge those gaps alongside other agencies (MPI, Iwi, DoC) and various stakeholder groups into the future. A GIS database collating available information on the different habitat types and their spatial extents within the CMA was also produced as part of the project. Main findings of the investigation are summarised below.
4918 AM17-02 HB Gravel Management Study Report Final_June16
This report is part of a wider gravel management review project that began in 2010, which consists of 13 separate sub-projects. This report completes “Issues†11 and 12 of the gravel review, being:
ï‚· Issue 11 - Consideration of RMA issues that influence gravel management
 Issue 12 – Review of allocation and financial mechanisms that influence gravel management
The objectives of this report are twofold; first, to assess the Resource Management Act 1991 and other relevant legislation in respect to the management of the Hawkes Bay riverbed gravel resource; and second, to assesses the financial and market demand issues that influence gravel extraction operations.
