Pay your rates by direct debit

Things to know

• Direct debits set up with the Regional Council will use amounts calculated to clear rates by 20 September. If you start payments partway through the year, your deductions will initially be higher in order to clear rates by the due date. From 20 October payments will be recalculated across a full 12 month period, and we will notify you of the new amount.

• With a direct debit lodged through the Regional Council, you will receive non-penalty status, provided all payments are honoured on time. Note that any private payment arrangements must clear the balance by 20 September each year, to avoid a penalty on the outstanding balance. 

• Monthly deductions will be made on the 20th of each month, even if this falls on a weekend or public holiday.

• Weekly and fortnightly deductions will be made on Thursdays.

• An option for a single annual direct debit payment on the due date is also available. These will occur on 20 September each year, which is the due date for paying your rates.
