The Environment & Integrated Catchments Committee considers and recommends to Council strategies, rules, policies and other methods, with regard to responsibilities or involvement for land drainage, river control, biosecurity, the Resource Management Act, National Policy Statements; National Environmental Standards and relevant associated legislation plus the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Chair:  Cr Sophie Siers

Deputy Chair: Cr Di Roadley

Appointed Members: 1x Maori Committee (Katarina Kawana), and 1x Regional Planning Committee (Michelle McIlroy)

The Environment and Integrated Catchments Committee considers aspects of Council operational environmental functions including:

  1. Resource management

  2. Flood protection and drainage asset management

  3. Regulatory responsibilities

  4. Environmental performance trends and State of the Environment environmental monitoring

  5. Reviewing responses to emerging and significant environmental issues

  6. Climate change policy.
