At Hawke’s Bay Regional Council our purpose is to work with our community to protect and manage the region’s precious taonga of rivers, lakes, soils, air, coast and biodiversity for health, wellbeing and connectivity. Our organisation is diverse and our work is varied. Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

 

About the Opportunity:

Due to internal staff movement, we are looking for a Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator to join the Corporate Support team. This team is responsible for ensuring staff have the support, resources and working environment that enables them to ‘get their job done’ along with supporting the effective and efficient management of Council’s property portfolio.

Reporting to the Corporate Asset and Support Lead, the key objectives of the role are to: 

  • Coordinate building maintenance across all HBRC properties as and when required to ensure smooth and efficient operation off office sites
  • Monitor and implement scheduled preventive maintenance at office sites
  • Undertake regular building inspections, organise evacuation processes and liaise on Health and Safety processes with relevant people
  • Build positive working relationships with relevant staff
  • Oversee Council’s service contracts to ensure effective delivery, including cleaning contracts

 

About you:

You ideally have some relevant industry experience such as property administration, hold a valid drivers license, be personable, calm under pressure, a multi-tasker, be computer literate and demonstrate working knowledge of building maintenance and relevant legislation.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will ideally possess and demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Relevant office and administration experience
  • Proven customer service experience
  • Astute problem solving abilities
  • A friendly and approachable manner
