Emergency Management Team Leader - Community Engagement

About the opportunity:

The HBRC CDEM group is looking for a positive-minded individual with proven leadership experience, a passion for the community and a desire to build community resilience.  You will need to be comfortable leading and developing a team who are actively working in the community to promote emergency education and build functional relationships. A background in emergency response work would be beneficial but not essential in this role. As an integral part of the CDEM team, the team leader will drive the development of strategies, tools and programmes of work to build both community and organisational resilience. The primary focus of the role will be working alongside as well as leading the team across a broad spectrum of Hawke's Bay communities to support their capacity and resilience to civil defence emergencies. 

You will be someone with a collaborative, team approach who can build relationships with people at all levels to boost engagement and active participation. 

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant degree or tertiary qualification
  • At least 5 years experience in a relevant discipline such as community development or emergency management.
  • Proven experience working with communities to help them identify and progress their aspirations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • A positive, can-do attitude, with the flexibility to adjust to the wide and varied demands of a fast-paced work environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to tailor your style to a particular audience.

The salary range for this role is between $89,896 to $99,884 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
