Contracts Manager

About the opportunity:

The Hawkes Bay Regional Council Works Group has a great opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team. This is a fulltime, permanent position and will be based out of our Guppy Road, Taradale depot. You will be supporting the Senior Contracts Manager to deliver on HBRC’s Asset Maintenance Contract and other infrastructure projects connected to our region’s various river and drainage schemes. This exciting, diverse and challenging work will give the right candidate an opportunity to be a key contributor to our Works Group team.

About You:

You will be an experienced contracts manager who can hit the ground running, providing day to day management of infrastructure projects within our region. The ability to build and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with our various stakeholders will be essential to your success in this role. Alongside this, you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to health and safety in the workplace, a high level of initiative and proven experience in leading projects and managing contractors. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be pro-active, self-motivated and enthusiastic!

 

The key objectives of the role are to:

  • Manage construction contracts (NZS3910) with both in-house construction resources and the external contracting industry.
  • Ensure that effective health and safety policies and practices are in place and adhered to.
  • Ensure effective monitoring of contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Manage external tender submissions as required.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Diploma in Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role/relevant industry
  • Practical understanding of contract documentation (NZS3910)
  • Proven project management skills, and practical knowledge of project management frameworks, systems, and practices
  • Sound computer skills with MS Office and project management tools
  • Innovative and solution focused attitude
