Manager Science


Hawke's Bay Regional Council now has a rare opportunity for a full-time Manager Science to join their team in the beautiful Hawke's Bay region. Reporting to the Group Manager Integrated Catchment Management, this highly influential and pivotal leadership role is responsible for heading up Council's science portfolio. As the public 'face' of Council's science, you will need to ensure a high standard of science communication occurs both within and outside the council.

Some of your key objectives may be:

  • Providing exemplary leadership of a high performing team and managing the project delivery of the team and the outputs they are responsible for;

  • Networking with a wide variety of external contacts to attract research and funding for science into the region;

  • Ensuring all Council's science is aligned to agreed objectives, is of a consistently high standard and is well communicated;

  • Attending and participating in national groups or meetings relevant to regional council science;

  • Establishing, implementing and maintaining quality management system (QMS) processes; and

  • Ensuring that technical reports are well written, clearly presented and prepared on time.
