Regional Business Partner Programme Business Growth Advisor [Fixed Term]

The Regional Business Partner Programme (RBP) is a key Government service to deliver a regional one-stop shop that supports New Zealand businesses to grow and innovate. This is delivered via a network of 14 regionally based organisations contracted to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and Callaghan Innovation. In Hawke’s Bay this contract is held by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council as well as a subcontract relationship to the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce.

About the opportunity:

The Hawke’s Bay RBP team includes two Part Time Business Growth Advisors and one Innovation Specialist. The primary function of the Advisor is to deliver on all three core services of the programme to RBP customers. The three core service areas for this role include:

  • Capability assessment of the business needs
  • Support innovation and research and development activity within Hawke’s Bay businesses.
  • Co-ordinate the Hawke’s Bay Business Mentor service on behalf of Business Mentors NZ.

You will take a birds-eye view, analysing business needs in order to make recommendations that supports the business priorities and growth strategies connecting them with the right resources and experts to build their capability to enable growth.

The position is part time (28 hours per week) fixed term until 30 June 2021. The salary range for suitable candidates that meet the requirements for this role is $69,210 - $78,438 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

About you:

You will have a willingness to work closely, cohesively and transparently with the Hawke’s Bay RBP team and NZTE, Callaghan Innovation and Business Mentors NZ.

A high level of business acumen across all aspects of business including strong strategic and operational perspectives.

  • Experience in assessing the performance improvement/ development needs of businesses and providing advice and information on sources of business assistance.
  • A track record of working with other agencies including Government agencies, industry associations, research/technology sectors or Universities to provide services to businesses.
  • An ability to understand the unique needs and opportunities presented to Maori businesses.
  • A willingness to be an active member of a broader network, including networks via the Hawke’s Bay Business Hub members, NZTE and Callaghan Innovation teams and as part of the Regional Business Partner Network.
