The Youth Climate Action forum is about bringing our rangatahi together and hearing their voice on the climate action initiatives that are meaningful to them. Through better understanding climate change and workshopping actions to combat it, our hope is to develop a youth perspective that will help our Hawke’s Bay community thrive.
In 2023, Councillor Hinewai Ormsby, Senior Climate Scientist Nariefa Abrahim-Bennet, and Climate Action Ambassador Pippa McKelvie-Sebileau will be presenting in the beginning of the day, and then students will break into workshops with specific topics to create an analysis and an action plan. The day will culminate in presentations to a panel of councillors by the students with opportunities for support and feedback.
The forum will be held on 4th October 2023 and will include youth from the Rangatahi Environment Committee | Hawke's Bay Regional Council (hbrc.govt.nz), Hastings Youth Council Youth Council | Hastings District Council (hastingsdc.govt.nz), and Napier Youth Council | Napier City Council.
